Payroll and social security
We prepare the payroll every month, file the social security returns and handle everything that moves them: changes in working hours, sick leave and returns to work, holidays, overtime, wage attachments and final settlements. We apply the collective agreement that corresponds to the activity, which is where most mistakes are made when payroll is run out of habit.
This is an area where a mistake is paid for quickly and with a surcharge, and where size changes the work: a team of three is not the same as fifty with several collective agreements in play.
If you want to understand how a payslip is put together, we explain it in our guide to calculating and managing payroll, and why it is worth keeping in order, in why good payroll management matters and when outsourcing it makes sense.
Hiring
Social security registrations and de-registrations, choice of contract type, applicable subsidies, and drafting of the contracts and their annexes. A company’s first hire is the moment to stop for ten minutes: the contract type you choose and the collective agreement you apply carry consequences for the whole of the employment relationship.
We also handle the employment side of obligations that are not payroll, such as those introduced by the Spanish parity act.
Capitalising unemployment benefit to start a business
This is one of the questions we get most from people about to set up on their own: drawing unemployment benefit as a single lump sum to fund the start of the activity.
It has requirements, deadlines and a specific order of steps, and doing them in the wrong order can cost you the benefit. We check whether the case fits before anything is set in motion and, if it does, we process the application and the registration of the activity in parallel, which is the part where time is usually lost.
We explain it in how to draw unemployment benefit as a lump sum and, for those already self-employed, in unemployment benefit for the self-employed.
Dismissals, disciplinary action and disputes
We prepare a dismissal before it is communicated: the letter, the calculation, the supporting documents and the likely outcome if it is challenged. A poorly documented dismissal is expensive, and the cost does not show up on the day it is served but months later.
We also act on the employee’s side where the case allows, in claims for unpaid amounts, disciplinary measures and dismissals. And we handle the pre-litigation conciliation stage, which is where a good share of these matters are settled without reaching court.
Labour inspections
We deal with requests from the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate, prepare the documentation requested and act as your representative throughout the procedure. As with the tax agency, what makes the difference is having the documentation in order beforehand, rather than reconstructed in a hurry once the request arrives.
Posted workers and foreign staff
For businesses sending workers abroad or hiring staff from other countries, we handle the employment side of the posting and the coordination with immigration, together with the firm’s legal team.
We have covered this in workers posted abroad, the preliminary employment contract for foreign nationals and the types of residence permit in Spain. On the tax side of relocating, article 7P of the income tax act and the Beckham Law.
Employment, tax and accounts are not run separately
Taking on your first employee is an employment decision, but it changes the company’s bookkeeping and tax position from that month on. A dismissal has an employment cost and an effect on the year’s results. When each area sits in a different firm, it is the business owner who ends up joining those dots.
Here the four areas are in the same office, so the conversation happens once.
Where we are
Five offices: Marbella, Estepona, Sabinillas (San Luis de Sabinillas, Manilva), Sotogrande and Sevilla. All of them provide every service.
How we start
If you already have staff, we first review where things stand: contracts in force, applicable collective agreement, social security contributions and any outstanding obligations. That produces an assessment of what needs correcting and in what order, with the fees in writing and no obligation.
